For all patients receiving intravenous fluid on postoperative day 1, the percentage of those in each electrolyte dose range is listed. An ongoing need for intravenous fluids was defined as those receiving intravenous fluid on postoperative days 1 and 2, therefore demonstrating an ongoing need during day 1. The dose range of 0.8–1.2 mmol.kg⁻¹ is expressed in italics because this represents maintenance requirements
